Still swamped in the kitchen, cooking for the baby shower my sister is throwing.
The desserts above are just what my sister and I finished today... and I still have more to do...
I had to change the plan a little. My sister wanted a hot pink/light pink for the baby shower's theme. That looks fine on cookies, but hot pink fondant cakes have one of two color incarnations: Pepto-Bismol and such a hot pink you have to shield your eyes. I really don't want to end up on cake wrecks so I talked her into dusty rose/light pink combination for the fondant decorated treats.
The cupcakes are vanilla or raspberry pink velvet cake. The fondant topped cupcakes--which I made only a few of because I do dislike fondant topped cupcakes, even if they are adorable--have raspberry Swiss meringue buttercream under their caps and the rest are standard buttercream.
The little cake's exterior is nearly as pretty as the interior (well I hope), which I can't show you as I'm not permitted to cut into cakes I bake for others (boo!). Layers of pink and ivory cake, sandwiched with pale pink raspberry Swiss meringue butter cream and seedless raspberry preserves.
Now I'm off to work on the appetizers and savory snacks!
